Measurement comes up in almost every conversation we have with L&D people. Everyone has an opinion on how it should be done. Far fewer of us know how our own practice compares to everyone else’s, because there’s very little shared data on what L&D teams are actually doing.
So we decided to collect some. This fall, we’re running our first research project on L&D measurement, in partnership with Bo Dury from Impact Flywheel. The goal is to understand where we sit as an industry, and to give everyone who takes part a clearer picture of where they stand.
How it works
You fill in the survey by November 10th. When you finish, you get an overall score, your top strengths, your biggest opportunities, and AI-assisted advice on what to work on next.
Once we reach 30 responses, you’ll also be able to compare your results with the industry average, calculated across everyone who has taken part.
What we’re measuring
Your overall score is the average of your scores across seven categories. We built them on Bo’s experience and our own:
Your mindset about measurement
How you collaborate with stakeholders
Whether you have a measurement strategy, both overall and for specific initiatives
How strong your tool stack is
Whether you have evidence of impact
How your data influences decisions
Whether equity is part of your measurement process
What happens next
By the end of the year, we’ll publish our general findings here, and hopefully a few case studies from teams doing interesting work.
This is the first time we’re running research like this, so we know there’s room to improve. If something in the survey doesn’t sit right, or you think we’re missing a category, leave a comment or reply to this post.
